Mr Swallow is back

Nick Mohammed is the absent-minded Mr Swallow, a well intentioned but incredibly annoying man. This time Mr Swallow plays Santa Claus blended with Scrooge in mish-mash inspired by Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Because Mr Swallow didn’t get the rights to the real thing, he’s forced to adapt Dickens’ story on the hoof, with no time to spare.

Instead of poor Bob Cratchit in Victorian London, we have a moody Santa mistreating elves at the North Pole. The famous three ghosts of Christmas – past, present, and future – appear and do their usual thing with a twist, and everything else from the original story is up for grabs. Rudolph the red nose reindeer is nicknamed Hesse, grumpy Santa struggles to cope with the problems of modern life, there’s a joke a minute.

A cast of cool comedians

Nick Mohammed is joined by Ghosts’ Martha Howe-Douglas, Borderline’s David Elms and Two Doors Down’s Kieran Hodgson.

The director is Matt Peover. Nick Mohammed wrote the book and lyrics with music from Oliver Birch and set and costume design from Fly Davis. Richard Howell is Lighting Designer, Emily Holt is the Choreographer, Freddie Tapner is Music Supervisor, Honor Halford-MacLeod is the Musical Director and the producer is Owen Donovan. Simon Nathan is the Orchestrator, Kate Margretts the Props Supervisor, and Lisa Aitkin the Costume Supervisor.
