Alterations description

Bush Theatre Artistic Director Lynette Linton (Blues for an Alabama Sky, Shifters) makes her return to the National Theatre to direct the first revival of Alterations in four decades. This time the era-defining comedy stars Arinzé Kene and Cherrelle Skeete.

London the way the Windrush generation experienced it

This is the 1978 work of Guyana-born British playwright Michael Abbensetts (Sweet Talk, Empire Road), presented this time with additional material from Trish Cooke (Black Street Mammy). Arinzé Kene (Get Up, Stand Up: The Bob Marley Story) and Cherrelle Skeete (Hanna) star.

The play is set in 1970s London, exploring the Windrush Generation’s immigrant experience. And it’s part of the Black Plays Archive, a collection of groundbreaking plays written by Black British, African, and Caribbean playwrights. A long-awaited revival, it delivers a new, dynamic version of a beloved comedy classic.

The Set and Costume Designer is Frankie Bradshaw and the Lighting Designer Oliver Fenwick. The Movement Director is Shelley Maxwell, Composer Duramaney Kamara, Sound Designer George Dennis, and Wigs, Hair and Make-up Designer Cynthia De La Rosa. The Fight Director is Kate Waters and the Casting Directors are Alastair Coomer CDG and Naomi Downham. The Dialect Coach is Hazel Holder and the Associate Set and Costume Designer is Natalie Johnson.
