Anna X description
Re:Emerge – Fresh drama for a post-covid world
It's fantastic to see British theatre re-emerging from lockdown, and even better to see Sonia Friedman Productions announcing a brilliant season of brand new plays created for a new world. The RE:EMERGE season makes a space for dazzling new voices and fresh West End talent. It's an extraordinary trilogy of plays curated by Friedman, with the collaboration of Ian Rickson, the season's Artistic Director.
All three plays handle vital issues around rebuilding society, dealing deftly with structural inequality, climate change and the economics of truth in an age of false news. The season is supported by Arts Council England, enjoys National Lottery funding, and is designed to support and celebrate the theatre-makers of the future. There's a real treat in store for those of you who adore classy theatre and love to have your imagination exercised. Not to be missed!
What's the story behind Anna X?
Anna X immerses us in the compelling world of fashion shows, private views, and non-stop partying. Anna and Ariel find themselves struggling to keep up with New York’s social elite in this wonderful play, which examines how far two outsiders will ultimately go to own the identities they want so badly, and the price they pay.
About Anna X
Inspired by real events, Anna X is a great new play by Joseph Charlton, directed by Daniel Raggett. The Golden Globe Award-winner Emma Corrin from The Crown joins the Royal Television Society’s 2019 Breakthrough star Nabhaan Rizwan for this, their theatreland debut, examining the thorny themes of self-invention, determination, and deceit.
