The stage-to-screen musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown has announced that it will extend its run at the Playhouse Theatre through to 22 August 2015.
The new musical directed by Tony Award-winner Bartlett Sher is adapted from the Pedro Almodóvar film of the same name and stars Haydn Gwynne and Tamsin Greig. Both Gwynne and Greig will continue their roles, for which they received Olivier Award nominations this week.
Written and composed by Jeffery Lane and David Yazbeck, the duo behind the West End smash-hit Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, the show tells the story of Pepa, a woman who is jilted by her lover and sets about getting her just revenge. Set against the heated atmosphere of Madrid, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown is a funny and dramatic look at how romance can quickly spiral out of control, leaving life unravelling around you.
Dutch musical theatre star and ex Elphaba in Wicked, Wilhelmina Verkaik, will continue her role in Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown alongside the supporting cast of Marianne Benedict, Seline Hizli, Ricardo Afonso, Holly James, Rebecca McKinnis, Sarah Moyle, Michael Matus, Haydn Oakley, Alastair Natkiel, Dale Rapley, Nuno Queimado, Anna Skellern, and Jérôme Pradon.
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown is now booking at the Playhouse Theatre until 22 August 2015.
