Expect an hour-long puppet-filled musical that brings the book to life in a lively, colourful and funny way, an experience to remember for grown-ups as well as the kids.

There’s also a message in the story – this is a celebration of the joy of reading, made to inspire a love of stories in your little ones. Will Charlie convince his little sister it is fun to read? Will she change her mind when she hears a magical story about a pirate who’s reading a book about Goldilocks, who is reading a book about a knight... and so on?

Come dive into the wonder of books with Charlie Cook, told by exquisite puppets, set to brilliant music and sprinkled with dance, created by the people who gave us the Gruffalo stories, The Smartest Giant in Town, Room on the Broom and many more.

The creative genius behind the show

The fun is performed by Georgie Samuels, Pierre Hanson-Johnson and Jazmine Wilkinson, directed by Samantha Lane and composed by Barb Jungr, and the set and costume is by Ellie Mills. The puppets are by Maia Kirkman-Richards and lighting by Sherry Coenen. Stage managed by Olivia Preston, this is a Little Angel Theatre, Lowry and Rose Theatre co-production.
