Choir of Man description
Picture this. You’re down the pub with your mates enjoying a few beers. Suddenly the place erupts as nine men launch into a series of chart tunes supported by a passionate band and electrifying choreography. This is the best lock-in you’ve never had. You’re going to love every second.
The set is an on-stage pub manned by a barman who serves beers while you enjoy the show, making it a wonderfully immersive experience. The show follows a male choir as they reveal their lives through music, an approach that has proved a smash hit in Australia, the US and Europe, on tour, at the Edinburgh Fringe and in Earl’s Court.
Who creates this unique immersive musical experience?
The company comprises Adam Bayjou (Les Misérables) as The Hard Man, Michele Maria Benvenuto (The Choir of Man – Norwegian Cruise Line) as The Maestro, Andrew J Carter (The Phantom of the Opera) as The Pub Bore, Ben Goffe (Hex) as The Handyman, Luke Conner Hall (Bat Out of Hell) as The Romantic, Michael Hamway (Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella) as The Poet, Daniel Harnett (The Choir of Man) as The Joker, Mark Irwin (The Commitments) as The Barman, and Tom Miles (Frankenstein) as The Beast.
They’re joined by talented Swing members Sam Ebenezer (The Mousetrap), James Hudson (Saturday Night Fever), Peter Lawrence from The Choir of Man tour and Niall Woodson on his West End debut.
Created by Nic Doodson and Andrew Kay, the fun is directed by Nic Doodson with musical supervision, vocal arrangements and orchestrations by Jack Blume.
The movement, direction and choreography come from Freddie Huddleston. Ben Norris penned the monologues. The scenic design comes from Oli Townsend and the lighting design from Richard Dinnen, with costume design and associate scenic design by Verity Sadler and sound design by Sten Severson. Hollie Cassar is the musical director and associate musical supervisor.
The band itself provides the perfect accompaniment to the men, with Emmanuel Nana Kwasi Bonsu on drums, Jack Hartigan on guitar, Darius Luke Thompson on violin and Sam Tookey on bass.
Sing-along live music in a pub setting
Whatever your taste in music you’ll be captivated by the performers’ skills. The tunes include something from every genre, a part-party, part-gig experience full of popular chart toppers including Queen, Luther Vandross, Sia, Paul Simon, Adele, Guns and Roses, Avicii, and Katy Perry.
Yes, you’ll feel like singing and dancing along... and yes, you’re allowed to. In fact, they encourage it, adding an extra element to an already life enhancing show. Don’t miss this outstanding musical with a difference.
