Crazy For You description
Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Crazy For You is dancing its way into the Gillian Lynne Theatre in 2023.
A much-awaited revival of the Olivier Award winning show, this brand-new production will have you dancing in your seats along to Gershwin's greatest hits.
This production of Crazy For You recently received four WhatsOnStage Award nominations, including for Best Performer in a Musical (Charlie Stemp), Best Regional Production, and best choreography for Susan Stroman.
What is Crazy For You about?
Never seen the show before? Here's a breakdown of what awaits you!
Bobby Child (played by Charlie Stemp) wants to enter the glamourous world of showbusiness, but his family ties keep him at home, as he helps to run their bank. On a reluctant work trip to Nevada, Bobby is sent to foreclose a failing theatre. But upon his arrival, instead of shutting the theatre down, he falls head over heels in love with the theatre owner's daughter, Polly (played by Carly Anderson).
As he tries to win Polly's heart, Bobby decides to help the troubled theatre instead, and tries to put on a spectacular show to save it, as well as regenerate the local town. With a little help from his New York friends, the Zangler Follies, can Bobby's show-stopping production save the theatre from foreclosure?
A must-watch for any Gershwin fan, Crazy For You is packed with unforgettable melodies, including Someone to Watch Over Me, I Got Rhythm and They Can't Take That Away from Me.
After its sold-out season at Chichester Festival Theatre, Crazy For You transfers to the West End for a show you'll never forget!
Who is involved with Crazy For You?
This production has some incredible cast and creatives involved.
Bringing her electric choreography and direction to the Gillian Lynne stage is Susan Stroman. A Broadway legend and reciepent of five Tony Awards and two Olivier Awards, Susan's previous productions include The Producers, Contact and The Scottsboro Boys.
And you can expect plenty of witty dialogue from the show's book writer, Ken Ludwig, who also wrote the Tony Award-winning production, Lend Me A Tenor.
Breathtaking performances await you from the cast too. Olivier Award nominee Charlie Stemp (Mary Poppins, Half a Sixpence) returns to the role of Bobby, having impressed audiences during the Chicester run.
Also returning to the production are Carly Anderson (Wicked) as Polly Baker and Tom Edden (Cyrano De Bergerac) as Bela Zangler.
