Ghost Stories description
Ghost Stories – Brilliantly scary!
The original production of Ghost Stories, back in 2010, was on stage for ages at a string of respected theatres, a sure sign of an excellent piece of theatrical entertainment. It was a big hit in the West End. Now it's back in theatreland again thanks to the same talented creative team, and it is set to terrify audiences all over again. This is a genuinely disturbing event. Are you ready for a really good scare?
Andy Nyman and Jeremy Dyson's hit horror story Ghost Stories is back, after a monster of a revival at the Lyric Hammersmith. Make your way to London's Ambassadors theatre just in time for Halloween and enjoy being scared silly like thousands and thousands of Ghost Stories lovers before you.
Meet the dodgy Professor of Parapsychology Phillip Goodman, who is going to present his ghostly happenings to you. He tells us about three mysterious and spooky cases he has come across during his research, and he can't explain any of them. In what's been called a 'fully sensory and electrifying encounter', the tales will have you on the edge of your seat and as the horror unfolds and the fear begins. Ghost Stories really is genuinely scary.
The best thing is, even though this splendid piece of stage entertainment has been on the go since 2010, unless you've actually seen it you won't know the plot. It's a hugely clever piece of audience collusion that also has the media keeping its mouth zipped shut about exactly what happens. If we found out, the edifice would collapse. As is is, every audience approaches Ghost Stories fresh, with no clue about what happens, and that keeps it supremely frightening.
Having opened at Liverpool's Playhouse theatre in 2010 it soon transferred to the Lyric Hammersmith and has graced the West End twice, once at the Duke of York's and once at the Arts Theatres. It has also been made into an excellent film, in 2017, starring Andy Nyman – the play's writer – with Alex Lawther, Martin Freeman and Paul Whitehouse.
Ghost Stories comes to you from Ambassador Theatre Group Productions, and Smith and Brant Theatricals. The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre present the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre Production of Ghost Stories at The Ambassadors Theatre. It's unique. It's strange. But take great care. It's also dark and dangerous, a nightmarish world of scary twists and turns that taps directly into your deepest fears.
Yes, you know you're in a theatre, and that this is just a play. But you'll be horrified all the same, on the edge of your seat from start to finish. If you are easily scared, the type of person who has to sleep with your bedroom light on for a week after seeing a horror film, you might want to think twice. No wonder the show has a strict minimum age limit of 15 years old and over.
Don't miss Andy Nyman and Jeremy Dyson’s international cult phenomenon. It'll haunt you for a very long time. Are you bold enough to go see it?
