Hamlet is arriving in the West End again, fresh from a sell-out run at Islington's small yet perfectly formed and highly respected Almeida Theatre. It proved a smash hit there, and is being rewarded with a transfer to the glittering Harold Pinter theatre, a jewel in theatreland's crown. Add the starring role of the tragic Danish prince played to perfection by Andrew Scott, who recently wowed audiences in TV's Sherlock as the appalling Moriarty, as well as starring as evil Max Denbigh in the Bond film Spectre, and there's a huge treat in store. Scott has also won an Olivier Award for 'A Girl in a Car with a Man', handed over for his 'Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre'. This, as you can imagine, is top quality stuff.

The play has been carefully and skilfully adapted by Robert Icke, who also directs. He comes with an excellent pedigree, responsible for a series of awesome classic and modern dramas at the Almeida as well as his fair share of West End transfers. The cast includes the wonderful Juliet Stevenson along with a host more talent: Barry Aird, Elliot Barnes-Worrell, Jessica Brown Findlay, Marty Cruickshank, Calum Finlay, Joshua Higgott, Amaka Okafor, Daniel Rabin, David Rintoul, Luke Thompson, Peter Wight, Angus Wright and Matthew Wynn.

Look out for the costumes and sets, designed by Hildegard Bechtler. There's lighting design by Natasha Chivers, sound from Tom Gibbons and video by Tal Yarden. Add it all up and you get a play you won't forget in a hurry, a piece that more than deserves its transfer status. The excitement kicks off from 9th June 2017.
