Here We Are description
Music from Stephen Sondheim, book by David Ives, and a musical inspired by Luis Buñuel’s movies all mean you’ll adore this fresh new version of Here We Are, a show a New York Times critic called ‘Joe Mantello’s breathtakingly chic production’.
Here we are... or are we?
It’s Saturday morning, and Leo and Marianne Brink are surprised to see their friends Paul and Claudia arrive unexpectedly on their doorstep. Then Raffael Santello Di Santicci, ambassador of Moranda, turns up, followed by Marianne's little sister. The Brinks can’t recall sending out invitations, so it’s all very odd. They decide to take everyone out for brunch at a place offering amazing food and legendary service, but things soon start to go pear-shaped...
This is the final work by Stephen Sondheim (Into the Woods, West Side Story, Gypsy, Into The Woods, Merrily We Roll Along, Follies and many more). The cast includes Tony and Olivier award-nominated Tracie Bennet (Coronation Street, the film version of Shirley Valentine, She Loves Me), Olivier award winner Rory Kinnear (The Man Of Mode, Othello, four James Bond movies) and Dennis O’Hare (Take Me Out, Sweet Charity, TV’s True Blood).
The creative team
The show is directed by two-Tony Award winner Joe Mantello (WICKED, Assassins). The book writer David Ives is a Tony Award-nominee. The Set and Costume Design is by David Zinn, the Choreography from Sam Pinkleton, and the Orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick. Additional Arrangements come from Alexander Gemignani. Your Conductor is Nigel Lilley. The Lighting Designer is Natasha Katz, the Sound Designer is Tom Gibbons, and the Casting Director is Bryony Jarvis-Taylor.
This is a Tom Kirdahy, Sue Wagner, John Johnson and The Stephen Sondheim Trust production, co-produced with The National Theatre.
