Let The Right One In description

Following a successful run at the Royal Court, where it completely sold out, Let The Right One In transfers to the West End for a limited run due to end late September 2014.

What is the media saying? Time Out gave it five stars, calling the show “Beautifully intimate and bedazzlingly epic”. The Observer called it “Unforgettable. Explosive. One of the most original shows of the year”. The Independent called it “A strange, tender love story that will chill you to the marrow and break your heart”. All of which bodes well for a seriously good production packed with thrills, chills and powerful emotion.

What’s the story? 12 year old Oskar, who lives with his mum on a perfectly ordinary housing estate, is horribly lonely, bullied by his fellow pupils. Eli has moved in next door. She never goes to school and doesn’t even leave the flat until after dark. She’s weird… but Oskar likes her, sensing a kindred spirit, and they become firm friends. But when a series of grisly murders shocks the neighbourhood, both their lives change forever.

When Oskar finally faces his darkest hour, Eli defends him the only way she can… with devastating results. We don’t want to spoil the plot for you, so we’ll stop there. But you can expect a fascinating fantasy full of subtle romance, strength against adversity and the fine art of fighting your aggressors.

The sets are stunning, the atmosphere is ripe for a dose of very pleasurable fear and the refurbished Apollo is well worth experiencing, a well-loved theatrical phoenix rising from the ashes.

Is it suitable for kids? This is a gory, blood-filled production full of violence and surprises. It has already proved remarkably popular with teens, who identify strongly with the story. On the other hand it isn’t really suitable for under 13s, only recommended for grown-ups and ‘fearless’ teens.

Will it become a cult hit? The time is right, with Scandinavian literature hot property and the public’s appetite for mystery, crime and gore at an all-time high. See what you think. With a sell-out run already behind it, the signs are looking good. Which means it makes sense to buy your tickets before they sell out. If you love being intrigued, terrified and thoroughly entertained, this unusual and charming play is perfect for you.
