This show is adored for its mayhem and madness, reviewed as “A stupidly silly and brilliant show” with “all the makings of a cult classic”. It’s back in the capital once more, on stage again at the Southwark Playhouse in Borough, for a springtime run between 1st March and 20th April 2024.

The plot? It’s 1985 and rookie cop Jimmy Johnson has joined the police to protect and serve, tasked with investigating a drug lord. But when he discovers his partner is a renegade policeman and he’s also being leaned on by the racist Chief, life as a cop doesn’t look so great after all. Poor Jimmy ends up on a harebrained adventure that takes him across the US and into Mexico, where he’s menaced by the frightening ex-cop Juanita Gonzalez.

The music is by Ben Adams, and the book and lyrics come from Zachary Hunt, Nathan Parkinson, and Tom Roe. The show is Choreography by Matt Cole. The Musical Director is Gabriel Chernick, Musical Supervision, Arrangements and Orchestrations are by Rich Morris and the Set and lighting by Andrew Exeter. The Sound comes from Charlie Smith and the Casting is by Pearson Casting.

Following a highly successful season in 2023, the five-star-reviewed Police Cops: The Musical is returning to the Southwark Playhouse for a limited run. It sold out every year for five years in a row at the Edinburgh Fringe and has won a well-deserved reputation as a globally acclaimed comedy.

Written by the POLICE COPS themselves, the new score comes from the Brit Award-winning Ben Adams whose work on Eugenius! The Musical we loved so much. Expect their infamous fast-paced, action-packed physical comedy, and prepare your laughing gear for some serious exercise.
