South Pacific description
South Pacific – Nightly standing ovations!
This sensational production of the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein's musical has been inspiring standing ovations at the Chichester Festival Theatre where it was created. Now it's transferring to the West End's Sadler's Wells Theatre in 2022 for a strictly limited run.
What's the story behind South Pacific?
The year is 1943 and the US Navy has set up several bases in the Solomon Islands in preparation for an invasion of the Central Pacific. On one island a French planter named Emile de Becque lives. The navy tries to employ him as a scout to spy on the Japanese, and the US Navy nurse Nellie Forbush does her best to persuade him. As war edges closer, their love story unfolds.
