The Commitments description
Commitments tickets – World Premier heaven for soul lovers
It’s taken two years to get this brand new, sparkling musical on the road and it’s one of the longest-awaited in the West End for ages. The best-selling book morphed into a huge international movie hit and the chart topping band have surfed the wave ever since. Now The Commitments hits the stage in London’s West End for what’s being billed as a genuine musical legend in the making.
If you haven’t come across it before, here’s the story. A bunch of Irish kids have nothing much going for them but they have one thing in common: a love of sweet soul music. Their Dublin journey kicks off with a really bad combo playing in a shop window as people pass by without so much as a second glance. Something has to change - can local music aficionado Jimmy Rabbitte sort things out and deliver success?
Jimmy knows his soul but he’s no manager. Nevertheless he auditions a collection of likeable yet eccentric musicians and wannabee soul stars and a band is born. Despite a hilariously slow and unsteady start the group, named The Commitments, soon get their act together and prove incredibly popular with their powerful rendition of a suite of soul classics. But as fame finally begins to beckon, tantalising in its closeness, the band members’ volatile and unpredictable personalities start to disintegrate into squabbling and their discontent starts to endanger their musical future. Will the whole thing end in disaster?
What happens next? You’ll have to wait and see. The story unfolds in unexpected directions accompanied by the coolest soul classics on the planet, tunes like Mustang Sally, Take Me to the River, Chain of Fools, The Dark End of the Street, Destination: Anywhere, I Can't Stand the Rain, Try a Little Tenderness, Treat Her Right and more. It’s a cracking collection of top soul numbers guaranteed to send you into a soul-induced trance. Now that’s what we call music!
Directed by the extremely talented Jamie Lloyd, who was responsible for the sell-out Trafalgar Studios production of Macbeth with James McAvoy, you can expect quality acting, supreme musical talent and a laugh a minute, Dublin-style. Plus a splendid stage set and convincing costumes - you’re bound to enjoy the craic, as they say in Eire.
Can you resist? If you’re keen to get hold of Commitments cheap tickets you’re in the right place, with the full range on tap from low cost to premium, all with excellent availability. Click through and see.
