The Land of the Living description
Directed by National Treasure Stephen Daldry and starring Juliet Stevenson (The Doctor), this extraordinary play comes from the pen of the former Young Vic Artistic Director David Lan. It tells the story of the children who were displaced and stolen after the Second World War.
Three national treasures creating magic on stage
British actor Juliet Stevenson is loved for her work on the small screen, in movies and on stage. She has played countless roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre and her work on Measure for Measure, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, and Yerm was Oscar-nominated. She won the 1992 Olivier for Best Actress for Death and the Maiden, and a 5th Olivier nomination came her way for Duet for One.
Multi-talented playwright David Lan CBE is also a theatre producer and social anthropologist. He trained as an actor himself and spent time as writer in residence at the Royal Court Theatre from 1995 to 1997. He was artistic director at the Young Vic from 2000 to 2018 and so far is responsible for producing more than 200 shows.
Director Stephen Daldry CBE works on the movies, theatre and TV, winning three Tony awards for his work on Broadway as well as an Olivier Award for his work in the West End. He received Academy Award nominations for Best Director for the movies Billy Elliot, The Hours, and The Reader.
Daldry produced and directed Netflix’s fictional smash hit about the royal family, winning a Producers Guild Award nomination and win, plus two Primetime Emmy nominations and Primetime Emmy wins for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series / Outstanding Drama Series. His theatre work includes An Inspector Calls, Machinal, Billy Elliot: The Musical, Skylight and Stranger Things: The First Shadow.
