The Legends Of Them description
This powerful one-woman performance returns to London after a well deserved, critically acclaimed debut in Brixton. The celebrated reggae musician Sutara Gayle AKA Lorna Gee, stars, weaving her own fascinating story to reveal a moving, raw, raucous voyage of discovery.
Expect a loud, transcendent experience packed solid with high-octane music and comedy so sharp you'll almost cut yourself on it. The result is a roof-raising and intimate look into an unusual life lived through some truly extraordinary experiences.
A mix tape of a life story
The show is actually more of a mix tape than a life story, as events unfold against a backdrop of beautiful music. In one story Sutara hears her own radio debut while locked up in prison at Holloway, in another she relives the Brixton uprising, kicked off by the police shooting of her own sister. You'll be captivated.
About Sutara Gayle and the creative team
Sutara is a British-Jamaican actor who has been delighting audiences on stage and TV for three decades. She created a brilliant Lizzy the Fish in the Apple TV+ spoof comedy series The Completely Made Up Adventures of Dick Turpin, starring comedian and Bake-Off presenter Noel Fielding, and created more magic in the Netflix drama Supacell.
Wowing audiences as the antique shop owner Gemma Whiteley the BBC crime drama Magpie Murders, she also delighted us in TV's Strike: Troubled Blood, the popular TV crime series written under J.K Rowling's pen name. In 2023 Sutara debuted as a writer-performer in The Legends of Them at Brixton House, winning a 2024 Best Performance Piece Offie Award.
