The Light In The Piazza description
THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA lights up the Royal Festival Hall for four weeks only this summer. Directed by multiple Olivier Award winner Daniel Evans, this lavish new production stars Opera superstar and Tony Award nominee RENÉE FLEMING and Disney film and television superstar DOVE CAMERON making their West End debuts.
Joining Renée and Dove is a stellar cast of acclaimed performers including Olivier Award-winning ALEX JENNINGS (RSC, Netflix’s The Crown), ROB HOUCHEN (Les Misérables), MARIE MCLAUGHLIN (Royal Opera House), LIAM TAMNE (Wicked) and CELINDE SCHOENMAKER (The Phantom of the Opera).
This new production will feature “the most intensely romantic score of any musical since West Side Story” (NY Times) performed by Opera North’s 40-piece onstage orchestra. Designed by Rob Jones (RSC, Royal Opera House) for the Royal Festival Hall’s breathtaking stage, THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA will sweep you off your feet as it transports you to a beautiful, sun-drenched Italian piazza.
Florence. Summer 1953. As American Margaret Johnson and her daughter Clara take in the city’s wonders, a fateful gust of wind whisks Clara’s hat into the hands of local dreamer Fabrizio Naccarelli… and it’s amore at first sight. But Clara isn’t quite what she appears, and soon they must all confront a secret that’s been kept in the shadows for far too long.
The Light in the Piazza is the must-see summer theatrical event of the year so book early and don’t miss the first ever chance to see this acclaimed Broadway musical about the life-changing thrill of first love.
